Description

Update, July 4

All remaining spots have been filled and registration is no longer possible. We have assigned all spots randomly, and everyone who was selected has been notified already.

Description

HPC.NRW and MathWorks cordially invite you to this hands-on workshop about Deep Learning with MATLAB. This half-day course will focus on training and exploring deep neural networks for image and signal data. We will work on hands-on exercises to set you up for your own projects.

Time and Place

The course will take place on Thursday, July 14, 2022, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. It will be held online via Zoom. The login credentials will be e-mailed to participants prior to the event.

Topics / Highlights

  • Train deep neural networks on GPUs in the cloud.
  • Create deep learning models from scratch for image and signal data.
  • Explore pretrained models and use transfer learning.
  • Automatically generate code for embedded targets.

Registration

The registration is open to members of universities and other academic institutions in North Rhine-Westphalia. The course is free for both students and employees.

We will admit 50 people. Upon registering you will be put on a waiting list. You will be notified by June 29, 2022 on whether you were accepted.

If there are more than 50 registrations, we will randomly select the participants. Everybody else will be put on a waiting list. If somebody cancels, we will offer the place to the first person on the waiting list.

Overview

This course is the fourth in a series of four courses that are held in summer 2022 and encompass the following topics:

  • Introduction to Parallel Computing with MATLAB (module 1)
  • Interoperability of MATLAB and Python (module 2)
  • Machine Learning with MATLAB (module 3)
  • Deep Learning with MATLAB (module 4)

Prerequisites

As we will be using MATLAB Online (MATLAB in a browser), a MATLAB installation on your desktop is not required. Basic MATLAB skills are recommended. If you are a complete MATLAB beginner, you can look through the MATLAB Academy, specifically the free MATLAB Onramp online course to familiarize yourself with MATLAB beforehand.
