Description

The next PC² User Day will be held on 3rd of November, 2022. The meeting will be held in a hybrid fashion. We cordially invite all interested people to join the event in person. Additionally, we will provide online access for those who cannot personally come to Paderborn.

The event is divided into three session:

In the first session, we give general updates from our compute center. One highlight for this year is the PC² User Board. We want to encourage our users to participate in the further development of our infrastructure and services.

The following coffee break will be connected to a poster session. You can ask questions about our infrastructure and service, or get in touch with the people in charge.

The second session covers user-provided talks. The talks are from various domains and have some technical depth to learn how others use our infrastructure.

Finally, we present in the third session some upcoming development at the PC² that you will be able to use in the near future.

Interested people can join a guided tour through our computer center after the open-end at 5pm.

      LOLA – Large-Scale Language Models for Low-Resource Languages 10m

Vectorizing the semantics of natural language has had an undeniable impact on natural language processing. However, a critical survey of existing language models suggests that they only exist for a limited number of the over 7000 languages spoken on the planet. The project LOLA will be a seed for a network of language models for low-resource languages and provide the foundation for applications such as question answering, machine translation and natural language generation across many languages. In this talk, we present some of the premises for our work and provide some insights into the planned computation.
