Advanced Topics of HPC Course consists of two half-day sessions:

• Part 1 on Tuesday, May 26, 2020. 14:00 - 18:00
• Part 2 on Thursday, May 28, 2020. 14:00 - 18:00

Topics covered in this course include:

• accessing computing resources at PC²
• CPU and cluster architectures
• high-performance libraries and compilers
• profiling, debugging and memory leak detection
• parallel file system tuning
• scaling analysis
• software container

This course also includes hands-on sessions on the cluster systems at PC².

Please note:

1. The course assumes:
   • basic knowledge of the Linux shell. We provide a short online selftest. In case you have no experience with Linux, we recommend that you attend our next Linux Introduction Course.
   • basic knowledge of workload managers (esp. Slurm) and jobscripts. We provide a short online selftest. In case you have no experience with workload manager on clusters, we recommend that you attend our next HPC Introduction Course.
2. The language of the course is planned to be English. If you don't feel comfortable enough with English, we can make this course also in German at a later date upon request.
3. For the hands-on session of the course the participants should bring their own laptops. No special operating system is required. You can participate with Windows, MacOS or some Linux-distribution. Please make sure that the wireless connection of your laptop works (for example with eduroam). In case you don't have access to eduroam, we can provide wireless network connection during the course.
4. This course will be organized online by using the teaching system at Paderborn University due to the concern of the Corona virus. Once your registration has been confirmed, more detailed information will be available.

This course will be free of cost for members of German universities or publicly-funded research institutions in Germany.
