Description

First course in our HPC course ladder provided by the Paderborn Center for Parallel Computing (PC2).

This course offers an introduction to Linux for new users or those, who want to refresh their Linux knowledge. The topics presented teach relevant concepts for command line workflow on Linux. The contents of the course can be considered necessary for daily usage of HPC cluster systems.

  • Redirection and Pipes

This course includes hands-on exercises on the computer cluster systems at PC2.

  • on-site and in-person
  • online

Please note:

  1. The language of the course is planned to be English. If you don't feel comfortable enough with English, we can make this course also in German at a later date upon request.
  2. If you would like to join the course in-person, please bring your own laptops. No special operating system is required. You can participate with Windows, macOS or some Linux-distribution. Please make sure that the wireless connection of your laptop works (for example with eduroam). In case you don't have access to eduroam, we can provide wireless network connection during the course.
  3. If you would like to join the course online (via the Zoom Meeting at Paderborn University), the link and more detailed information to join the course will be available, once your registration is complete.

This course is free of cost for members of German universities or publicly-funded research institutions in Germany. Please register the course using your university/institution e-mail address.

Note: the number of on-site seats is limited and the allocation of seats is done by the organizers.
