DESCRIPTION:First course in our HPC course ladder provided by the Paderbor
 n Center for Parallel Computing (PC2).\n\nThis course offers an introducti
 on to Linux for new users or those\, who want to refresh their Linux knowl
 edge. The topics presented teach relevant concepts for command line workfl
 ow on Linux. The contents of the course can be considered necessary for da
 ily usage of HPC cluster systems.\n\n\n	Basic Linux knowledge\n	The Shell\
 n	File systems and operations\n	Command line text editors\n	Process manage
 ment\n	Basic Bash scripting and tools\n	Redirection and Pipes\n\n\nThis co
 urse includes hands-on exercises on the computer cluster systems at PC2.\n
 \nCourse format:\n\n\n	on-site and in-person\n	online\n\n\nPlease note:\n\
 n\n	The language of the course is planned to be English. If you don't feel
  comfortable enough with English\, we can make this course also in German 
 at a later date upon request.\n	If you would like to join the course in-pe
 rson\, please bring your own laptops. No special operating system is requi
 red. You can participate with Windows\, macOS or some Linux-distribution. 
 Please make sure that the wireless connection of your laptop works (for ex
 ample with eduroam). In case you don't have access to eduroam\, we can pro
 vide wireless network connection during the course.\n	If you would like to
  join the course online (via the Zoom Meeting at Paderborn University)\, t
 he link and more detailed information to join the course will be available
 \, once your registration is complete.\n\n\nThis course is free of cost fo
 r members of German universities or publicly-funded research institutions 
 in Germany. Please register the course using your university/institution e
 -mail address.\n\nNote: the number of on-site seats is limited and the all
 ocation of seats is done by the organizers.\n\nThis course is severely ove
 rbooked. Thus we have to close the registration. We appreciate and thank
